Climate change will increasingly question flooding or water shortage. The Delta Programme 2015 water retention is mentioned as one of the measures to reduce the risks of both too much and too little water. For temporary storage of water during high water levels, many places are already used as specially designed water storage areas. These areas are largely dry during low water levels in order to be optimized for water storage when needed.
Is it possible to temporary store peak floods and simultaneously hold precipitation surplus as long as possible in the same area? RichWaterWorld developed a new concept for integrated water storage and retention. This concept has been implemented as an advisory tool for anticipatory water management.
